Tummy Tuck
(Abdominoplasty)
Tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty) is a surgical procedure which treats skin sagginess, cracks and deformities arising after pregnancy or weight loss.
The tummy tuck consists of the following:
Dr. Beyhan practices all three types of abdominoplasty; mini abdominoplasty, full abdominoplasty and lipo-abdominoplasty.
A mini abdominoplasty is suitable for patients with skin sagginess limited to the area under the belly button; excess skin is removed and the belly button is not altered.
In most cases, patients have skin excess both under and over the belly button. For these patients, a full abdominoplasty is the best solution. The intervention may be assisted with a fixing of abdominal muscles for a flat abdomen.
For patients with excess fat, the tummy tuck is assisted with a liposuction. This procedure is commonly known as lipo-abdominoplasty.
Incisions in abdominoplasty are made below the bikini line, leaving the scar hidden when wearing underwear. Dr. Beyhan uses three layers of stitches to decrease the tension and create a finer scar line.
An average recovery time of one week must be observed after tummy tuck. Drainage tubes are generally removed two days after surgery but may be kept for 5-6 days if blood and body fluids keep leaking, if leakage persists. Compression garments must be used for 3 to 5 weeks.
